Senior Java/Kotlin Engineer – 6 Month Rolling Contract – Sydney

$900–1050 p/d

Join a leading insurance organisation undergoing a large scale digital transformation, modernising core platforms and building out scalable, cloud native systems that support millions of customers across Australia. You’ll be working in a high performing engineering team delivering critical backend services and contributing to long term platform uplift.

What you’ll be working on:

• Designing and building scalable backend services using Java or Kotlin in a microservices architecture
• Developing event driven systems using Kafka to support real time insurance workflows such as claims and policy processing
• Contributing to platform modernisation across AWS using containerisation and cloud native patterns
• Building reusable components, frameworks and services to accelerate engineering delivery
• Driving best practice across code quality, testing, observability and system resilience
• Collaborating with product, architecture and engineering teams to deliver high quality solutions

What you’ll bring:

• Strong commercial experience with Java or Kotlin in enterprise environments
• Proven experience building microservices and event driven architectures
• Hands on experience with Kafka and distributed systems
• Strong exposure to AWS cloud and containerisation tools such as Docker and Kubernetes
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and Infrastructure as Code such as Terraform
• Strong understanding of system design, scalability and fault tolerance
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work across cross functional teams
