A leading Insurer is looking for a Senior Functional Business Analyst to join a high-priority delivery program on an initial 6-month contract. This is a hands-on role sitting at the intersection of PHI business stakeholders and technology delivery teams, ideal for a BA who knows the PHI domain inside out and thrives in fast-paced, regulated environments.
About the role
You’ll be accountable for producing high-quality functional analysis artefacts that translate complex PHI business change into scalable, compliant technology solutions. Working across products, pricing, claims, membership, policy, and compliance, you’ll partner with internal tech teams and external delivery partners to shape solutions that meet both business and regulatory needs.
What you’ll be doing
- Managing multiple complex deliverables across a fast-paced PHI program, balancing competing priorities and regulatory deadlines
- Producing comprehensive analysis artefacts — functional requirements, user stories, use cases, wireframes, process workflows, integration mappings, and technical impact assessments
- Acting as the key conduit between business SMEs and technology teams, ensuring requirements are clearly understood and well-translated
- Working closely with product, pricing, claims, policy, and compliance SMEs to map current and future state processes
- Partnering with implementation vendors and system integrators to align solutions with PHI business and regulatory needs
- Supporting solution design, testing, defect triage, and implementation
- Owning and actively managing the project/product backlog
- Translating regulatory and business change into well-defined features, user stories, and acceptance criteria
What we’re looking for
- 5+ years in a Senior Functional BA role (degree in CS, IT, Business or related discipline preferred)
- Demonstrated Health Insurance experience is essential: Including exposure to PHI products, policy structures, pricing, benefits/rule configuration, claims, membership, and core insurance platforms
- Strong understanding of PHI regulatory and compliance obligations
- Hands-on experience across the full SDLC in Agile/Scrum and hybrid environments
- Solid grasp of system design, integration patterns, APIs, and databases — enough to assess technical impact of business change
- Excellent documentation, critical thinking, and stakeholder communication skills
- Proven ability to work across internal tech teams and external delivery partners
- Nice to have: Exposure to AI-assisted development tools (GitHub Copilot, etc.) and prompt engineering experience
