As investment continues across the Australian market, an opportunity has been created for an experienced Business Development Manager to identify and develop new growth opportunities across a range of industry segments.
This is not a traditional account management role. You’ll be focused on opening doors, testing new markets, running customer trials, gathering market intelligence and helping shape future commercial strategy.
For someone who enjoys building something from the ground up, this role offers significant autonomy, exposure to senior stakeholders and the opportunity to influence long-term growth.

About the Role

Working closely with local and global teams, you’ll take ownership of developing new opportunities across multiple industry sectors where there is strong commercial potential but significant untapped opportunity.
You’ll engage directly with customers, understand operational challenges, demonstrate technology solutions and lead trials that showcase value in real-world environments.
Success in this role will come from your ability to build relationships, identify commercial opportunities and translate customer insights into sustainable growth strategies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify and develop new market opportunities across a diverse range of industry sectors
  • Build relationships with prospective customers, industry bodies and key stakeholders
  • Lead customer trials, demonstrations and proof-of-concept activities
  • Generate market intelligence and customer insights to support future growth strategies
  • Develop segment-specific business development plans and go-to-market approaches
  • Work closely with technical specialists, marketing and global teams
  • Convert trial activity into commercial opportunities and pipeline growth
  • Represent the business at industry events, conferences and networking forums

About You
You are naturally curious, commercially minded and enjoy exploring new opportunities.
You may come from laboratory instrumentation, scientific equipment, food production, agriculture, manufacturing or a related technical environment and be comfortable engaging with both operational and executive stakeholders.
You’ll likely bring:

  • Experience in business development, technical sales or market development
  • A consultative and relationship-driven approach
  • Strong commercial acumen and the ability to identify emerging opportunities
  • Confidence working autonomously and managing multiple priorities
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and networking skills
  • A science, engineering, technical or business qualification (preferred)
  • Willingness to travel nationally as required
