Lead React Native Contractor – Retail
I’m working with a leading Australian retailer who are looking for a Lead React Native contractor to help drive the evolution of their customer-facing mobile app.
This is a key role where you’ll lead from the front — shaping technical direction, guiding the team, and playing a central part in the transition from native mobile (iOS/Android) to React Native.
What you’ll be doing
- Leading development across a large-scale React Native application
- Owning and driving architecture and design decisions across mobile
- Playing a key role in the migration from native (Swift/Kotlin) to React Native
- Mentoring engineers and setting technical standards across the team
- Working closely with Product, UX, backend, platform, data and security teams to deliver end-to-end features
What they’re looking for
- Strong React Native experience (ideally with Expo)
- Proven experience in technical leadership or leading mobile initiatives
- Deep understanding of mobile architecture and cross-platform trade-offs
- Hands-on experience with native mobile (Swift/Kotlin), ideally in migration environments
- Strong communicator — comfortable influencing product and business stakeholders
- A pragmatic approach to delivery — knowing when to build for scale vs ship iteratively
Contract details
- $1,000 per day
- Initial 6-month contract
- 3 days per week onsite
