ABOUT THE COMPANY
My client is a fast-growing Series B healthtech company on a mission to further cement their place in the Australian market as they onboard a number of clients in the US. They pride themselves on having a great culture, with an established high-performing team who have been working together for a number of years. Based out of North Sydney, this will be a hybrid role with flexibility on offer.
THE ROLE
This is a brand new position, brought on to absorb everything IT — Entra ID, Intune, onboarding, device management, SSO configs, compliance support, and whatever lands in the inbox that day. You’re the person who owns that.
You’ll take full ownership of IT operations across the business — covering the Sydney office and supporting a US-based MSP. No helpdesk, no hand-holding. You’re the one who gets the call, works it out, and makes it happen.
Some days that looks like getting a laptop to a new starter by lunchtime. Other days it’s redesigning how they manage conditional access or automating an onboarding workflow. You need to love both.
WHAT YOU’LL OWN
- Microsoft 365 stack — Entra ID, Intune, Exchange, Teams, SharePoint, day-to-day and ongoing improvement
- Device procurement, configuration, and lifecycle management for Australian staff
- SSO/SCIM integrations for new SaaS tools; access governance and provisioning automation
- US-based MSP oversight — SLAs, escalations, accountability
- IT compliance obligations (SOC 2, HIPAA, GDPR) — building automated workflows and evidence collection
- Sydney office technology — network, AV, video conferencing
- Direct support for exec stakeholders on IT issues and rollouts
- Proactive automation — if you’re doing it manually twice, you’re already fixing it
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
- 10+ years in IT operations with hands-on, autonomous delivery
- 5+ years deep in the Microsoft stack — Entra ID, Intune, M365 — at a small/mid-sized business
- Strong PowerShell and Microsoft Graph API skills
- Security-minded: you balance speed with compliance, not one at the expense of the other
- A natural prioritiser — in a chaotic week, you know what matters and what can wait
- Someone who loves to automate; your instinct is always to remove the manual step
- Collaborative but self-directed — you work closely with the team but don’t need oversight to get moving
NICE TO HAVE
- Compliance framework experience — SOC 2, HIPAA, GDPR, ISO 27001
- Cloud security / egress controls (Netskope, Zscaler or equivalent)
- Integration platforms — Logic Apps, Power Automate or equivalent
- AI-assisted workflow experience
THE SETUP
- Location: North Sydney — hybrid, roughly 3 days/week (exec team runs Tue–Thu)
- Salary: $180,000–$200,000 base + super, depending on experience
