A federal government department is seeking experienced and motivated ICT Project Managers to assist with major ICT projects within its CIO Division. The division provides a range of enabling services and operations delivery to the department and to Australian businesses.

*You must have already secured Baseline clearance to be eligible for this position. 

Key Duties and Responsibilities
Project Managers will be required to:

  • Build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including business partners, cross-agency collaborations and service providers.
  • Research, plan, implement, monitor and evaluate project or program initiatives.
  • Negotiate and engage with stakeholders to ensure effective communication, coordination and collaboration for timely and successful outcomes.
  • Identify and resolve project-related issues and challenges.
  • Provide management, coordination, governance and assurance of complex projects.
  • Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams in an agile environment to deliver agreed outcomes.
  • Represent the team and branch in project governance meetings and provide clear, up-to-date reports on status and risk implications.
  • Oversee project resources to ensure a high performing, motivated and well-developed team.
  • Use project management tools across risk management, quality management, financial management, procurement, strategy, resource management, project briefs and post-implementation reviews.

Essential Criteria
Candidates must provide a one-page pitch (up to 5,000 characters) addressing all criteria below:

  1. A minimum of 5 years’ experience leading complex ICT projects and programs in Federal Government (non-negotiable)
  2. Proven ability to build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including business partners, cross-agency collaborations and service providers.
  3. Experience with and application of project management frameworks and methodologies, including Waterfall and Hybrid Agile.
  4. Ability to communicate and negotiate effectively with a range of stakeholders, including Departmental Executive.

This is a 12 month rolling contract, ideally based in Canberra, but they are open to Sydney candidates too.
