Manager, Financial Accounting

An opportunity for an experienced Manager, Financial Accounting, to join a well known Industry Superfund. This is a senior leadership opportunity for a technically strong accounting professional who enjoys working in a highly regulated environment and leading end‑to‑end financial and regulatory reporting.

Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, this role has accountability for statutory financial reporting, regulatory reporting, audit management and leading a small specialist finance team.

The Role
As Manager, Financial Accounting, you will be responsible for:

  • Producing annual financial statements for the Trustee, Fund and related entities, including consolidated accounts where applicable
  • Ensuring full compliance with accounting standards, legislative and regulatory requirements
  • Managing APRA regulatory reporting and maintaining a robust reporting control environment
  • Leading external and internal audit processes and managing audit queries effectively
  • Reviewing journals, reconciliations, reserves and financial controls across all entities
  • Overseeing accounting for member transactions, investment pricing and valuation activities
  • Partnering closely with investment, administration and finance stakeholders to ensure accurate financial outcomes
  • Preparing financial papers and reporting for Board and Committee meetings
  • Managing, mentoring and developing a team of finance professionals
  • Supporting the CFO with ad‑hoc financial analysis and strategic initiatives

About You
To be successful in this role, you will bring:

  • Extensive experience (10+ years) in accounting or finance, ideally within superannuation
  • Strong technical accounting expertise, including statutory and regulatory reporting
  • Proven experience managing APRA and ASIC reporting obligations
  • Demonstrated leadership experience with the ability to coach and develop team members
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to engage effectively across the business
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • High attention to detail, strong analytical capability and advanced Excel skills

Qualifications

  • Tertiary qualifications in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline
  • CPA or CA accreditation (essential)
